Stepping up against the Thought Police
This week’s Blendover is a first for me - a solo Blendover! On this edition, I look into the case of Victor White III, who despite his hands being cuffed behind his back in the backseat of a police car, committed suicide via gunshot to the chest, according to police and the coroner.
Jimmy Page had lived with the same woman all through the Led Zeppelin era. He was introduced to Charlotte Martin on his 26th birthday in 1970 by Roger Daltrey after the Royal Albert Hall gig. That night was the beginning of a long and stormy relationship of Jimmy and Charlotte. When the band gathered at Grant’s office four days later to begin the drive down to their next show in Portsmouth, Charlotte was still on Jimmy’s arm. With Pat Bonham. Maureen Plant and Mo Jones also joining the band on the road for the UK tour, suddenly Charlotte became the new ‘Mrs. Page’.
”We really only socialized when we were on the road. We all really came to value our family lives… Our families helped keep us sane.” - Jimmy
She was a wife of Jimmy in fact even if they didn’t legally marry. Jimmy called only her ‘My Lady’, which meant that he thought of her as his wife in a romantic way. They had one daughter Scarlet, born on the 24th of March, who is now a photographer. He never wanted to separate from her during Led Zeppelin period.
